Up until about 5 years ago
when my stepfather first joined our family I had never really been
following any sports. When he did come,
though, he brought along
with him his love for hockey,
which we soon joined into. At first
my brother, Daniel, and I started by watching his favorite team with
him, the Ottawa Senators. Later, Daniel started following the
Washington Capitals, which was the
closest team to
Charlottesville. By then I had also chosen a favorite team based
on the only team that I really knew, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.
I knew them well because I used to watch all three Mighty Ducks movies,
and used to be obsessed with their TV show. My favorite player
then became the Captain of that team, Paul Kariya. He later got
traded to the Colorado Avalanche, so I followed him. I soon
forgot about the Mighty Ducks being my favorite team and instead
started liking the Colorado Avalanche. Ever since then, the
Colorado Avalanche has been my favorite team, even after Paul Kariya
got traded to the Nashville Predators.
